Support Groups

Transcend North Iowa
Dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and all gender nonconforming individuals.

Transformations Iowa
A support group for transgender and non-binary people with meetings in Des Moines, Urbandale, and Cedar Rapids.

Transgenda is an activist and support group for transgender, gender variant, intersex, questioning individuals, and their allies in the Cedar Valley area. They meet every other Sunday from 8-9:30.



One Iowa
One Iowa is the state’s leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organization working toward full equality for LGBT individuals in Iowa through grassroots efforts and education.

Iowa Pride Network
Iowa Pride Network, a program of One Iowa, works with youth to make Iowa schools safer and more accepting. Iowa Pride Network encourages LGBTQ students and their allies to support, educate, and empower their community. Iowa Pride Network also assists students across the state in forming and sustaining Gay/Straight Alliances (GSAs) in their schools.

Iowa Safe Schools
Beginning in April 2002, the GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force has worked to put together evidence of the problem in Iowa schools, resources for parents, communities and schools, and increased awareness in multiple venues. The Task Force is more commonly known as Iowa Safe Schools.

PFLAG Cedar Rapids

Capital City Pride is a group of proactive individuals who strive to promote the importance of LGBT culture in Iowa.

Cedar Rapids Pride Fest
A non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt, all-volunteer organization that provides a celebration of Pride the first Saturday of June each year in Cedar Rapids.

Cedar Valley Pride Fest (Waterloo)
Cedar Valley Pride Fest will highlight the diverse gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community of Eastern Iowa in a positive and informative manner in an effort to promote acceptance, understanding and equality.

Iowa City Pride
Iowa City Pride is committed to providing a variety of inclusive, diverse and fun events throughout the year, culminating with their annual Pride celebrate every June. The oldest and one of the largest Pride celebrations.
